Oly Arsenal
Olivier Arsenault was born in the north of Quebec, more precisely in the region of Val d’Or. Filled with ambition, Olivier picked up his bags and left for the big city, in which he has lived many years. Young and unconventional, he develops a love for alternative and punk rock music. Curious and hungry for new sounds he slowly discovers many different international styles. He soon established an attachment to techno electronic music in which he is inspired by its liberation aspects. He explores and shares this new passion with his friend from many years, Jean-François Fontaine.
Olivier Arsenault started out DJing at Melting Pot, and at Sonar, in Quebec City. It was in these two nightclubs that Oly Arsenal and Jeff Fontaine collaborated in their very first productions together. Before long his passion drew him to Montreal, for its reputable nightlife. Instantly he desires to develop his knowledge of underground electronic music. Inevitably, he rapidly finds himself down town of Montreal in research for new influences. Rythms such as drum’n base, break beat, techno house and mainly, progressive house drew him to the creative universe of turn tables. He now inspires himself from pieces produced by a variety of international artists and DJs such as Danny Howels, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, and many more. Abundant with diverse understandings, authentic and previously unreleased concepts, Olivier Arsenault has established a sound he can call his own, built on house and tech/house rhythms with a touch of electronic.
Encouraged by colleagues such as Jeff Fontaine, Julian Prince, and Matt Vézina, he now takes his place in the Montreal electronic scene. Olivier Arsenault is continualy inspired by pieces from a variety of artists (Trentemoller, Cass, Paulo Mojo, M.A.N.D.Y., etc.), and attracted by labels such as Detour, Jackin, Manali et Kindred. Today, he entertains crowds in some of the most reputable clubs in Montreal, Stereo Bar, and JelloBar. Evidently, he works arduously on his own pieces, in collaboration with Jean-François Fontaine and Simon Henri (UCP), So that their sound will be heard and recognized.
